NEOM and AFC Announce Extended Global Multi-Year Partnership

NEOM and AFC Asian Football Confederation have extended their global partnership, continuing from 2024 to 2029 after a successful four-year collaboration. Under this arrangement, NEOM will remain the Official Global Partner of AFC national team and club competitions and serve as the Presenting Partner for the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League, promoting inclusivity and support for women’s football across Asia.

The extended partnership marks NEOM’s ongoing commitment to Asian football, highlighted by its role as the Official Global Presenting Partner of the AFC Champions League Elite Finals in Riyadh in 2025. The partnership will also support the AFC Women’s Champions League, featuring the top 12 women’s clubs from Asia, reinforcing NEOM’s presence in a new era for Asian football.

As Saudi Arabia prepares to host the 2027 AFC Asian Football Cup, the extended partnership strengthens the foundation laid over the past four years. The collaboration has led to initiatives like ‘Champions of Progress,’ using football to drive positive change across the region by developing talent from grassroots to elite levels. This initiative aligns with NEOM’s vision to be an innovative sports hub.

AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John expressed enthusiasm for the partnership renewal, emphasizing its role in supporting AFC’s competitions and engaging millions of passionate fans. He noted that this collaboration would foster growth and progress for Asian football, creating historic moments and mutually beneficial outcomes.

NEOM’s partnership with the AFC significantly enhances the livability of NEOM’s residents and contributes to the dynamic economy of the project. It aligns with NEOM’s goal of becoming one of the world’s most physically active societies, with residents participating in AFC events and a grassroots development program targeting Saudi Arabian youth.

The collaboration has already supported initiatives like the Shuhub Community Program, engaging 10,000 young people across the Kingdom. Through this program, NEOM has offered local boys and girls opportunities to participate in AFC matches as player mascots, center circle children, and trophy handover children at the AFC Champions League 23/24 Final. By leveraging knowledge transfer opportunities within the AFC, NEOM aims to develop future sports leaders, enhancing talent within the community throughout the partnership.
